First Night Evanston to mark its 25th anniversary with a virtual New Years Eve variety show on December 31

First Night Evanston invites the community to join them from the comfort of their own homes for a special New Years Eve virtual music event on December 31st featuring blues and harmonica legend Corky Siegel and friends. This ‘closer than in person’ event will last two hours and 22 minutes and will be presented online from 9.45pm with a special live Q&A with the musicians after the show.

“My wife Holly and I are delighted to serve as the emcee for this incredible musical spectacle filled with surprises from our prestigious and diverse performers,” said Siegel. “This year’s New Years Eve virtual concert is shaping up to be the best yet, so please help us support the arts and First Night with a contribution of any amount.”

This all-age extravaganza offers something for everyone with performances by exceptional artists from Chicagoland and beyond, featuring:

Alvy Ray Smith, Billy Branch, Blair Thomas with Michael Smith, Chamber Blues, Corky Siegel, Dorothy Scott, Howard Levy, Last Word Quintet, Phil Bimstein, Sones of México, Sons of the Never Wrong, Toronzo Cannon, Lynne Jordan, Ernie Watts , Wayne Baker Brooks, John Primer, Chihsuan Yang and Will Tilson.

A recommended contribution of $ 35 (or more!) Reserves a “seat” for over two hours of music, poetry, puppetry and interviews, immediately followed by a live countdown to midnight and the singing Auld Lang Syne in a special “Ring in the New Year” Zoom program with everyone invited. This virtual concert is free and open to the public.

“This year marks the 25th anniversary of First Night Evanston, and I am honored to be a part of this special celebration,” said Emily Guthrie, Vice President of First Night Evanston. “In a spirit of community and to make the arts accessible to the community at large, we have brought together a diverse range of musicians and artists to ring together in 2022. Most importantly, thanks to our sponsors and members of the community who contribute their best, we are able to make this virtual concert free and open to everyone. “

Contributions help fund this successful line-up of iconic artists, support the artist’s work, and ensure this special 25th anniversary of First Night is the most significant yet. Most importantly, it helps make this event accessible to all members of our community.

Special thanks to the sponsors of this year’s First Night Evanston, Byline Bank, Northwestern University, Romano Wealth Management, Kiwanis Club of Evanston and Hecky’s Barbecue for their invaluable support for this special event.
